How might we design more sustainable university dining ware?
As part of my sustainable dining thesis, I designed a third container alternative to single-use plastic containers at the University of Oregon. After developing the reusable lid and bioplastic concepts, I continued meeting with professionals at UO involved in design, waste management, food and sustainability to discuss potential solutions for reducing food and packaging waste. Additionally, most students, based on observation and interviews, seemed to prefer the idea of having a reusable container rather than a single use one.
